Queeries is a fun and informal event where you get to ask questions, eat good food and have engaging conversations with others interested in learning more about the queer community! The goal of our panel is to provide a space for people of all experiences and orientations to share their stories, ask questions, and inform people about the queer community in a safe and comfortable environment. We’d like to reach out to people who might not necessarily be part of the queer community, but have questions or would like to be informed. No question is too silly!
"What makes a queer community? I’ve heard of Pride UBC, but what do they actually do? How did you 'know?'” - These questions, among many others, will be answered with consideration and humour by our panel members!
Attending our event, participants can enjoy refreshments and mingle. The first half hour is a Q&A panel hosted by a wide array of Pride UBC Executives. We’ll start off with some definitions and terminology to help us create a space for dialogue. Participants are encouraged to submit anonymous questions, which will be answered by panel members. Because all panel members vary in experiences and reasons for being involved with the queer community, we hope to give you a rounded idea of the issues and joys shared in the community.
Afterwards, there is a breakout into smaller casual discussion on topics generated during the Q&A period. Participants are encouraged to move from group to group to learn about topics that might interest them and various aspects of the queer community, or simply enjoy conversations with like-minded people.
Queeries events are planned for the beginning of each Fall and Winter semesters. If you would like to attend an event, keep an eye out for announcements!
