About Us

Pride UBC is an AMS resource group that offers educational and social services dealing with sexuality to the UBC community, including but not limited to students, staff, and faculty. Pride UBC provide support and information to those who self identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered; assists people who are coming out; supplies a forum for dialogue about sexuality; holds social events, and educates the wider UBC community about the variation in human sexuality. Members of the group come from diverse backgrounds and everyone is welcome regardless of sexuality.

Come find us in the SUB, room 245C in the Resource Groups Area.

Education

  1. The group offers a library and resources about human sexuality for people trying to understand their sexuality and their place in the world.
  2. We also facilitate educational workshops for the AMS Speakeasy Peer Counselor Program, the Women's Student's Office, and the various ESL programs on campus.
  3. The group holds regular discussion groups on a variety of topics relating to human sexuality and the experiences of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people.
  4. Pride UBC organizes OUTWEEK every February, which includes public displays, talks, films, and social events, with the intent to educate the UBC community about the issues and concerns of our community.

Support

Because the group brings together others with the same concerns as your own, it enables you to connect with people with whom you can discuss common concerns. Pride UBC also subscribes to various gay and lesbian magazines, and we also have connections to the wider queer community in Vancouver.
