PRIDE UBC ADMIN MEETING March 16, 2009 from 12-1 PM. Attendence: Chris, Cole, Helene, Sasha, Kevin, Richard, Kendall, Tom Beer Garden - Shouldn't there have been more volunteers there than just Pride? - The Women's Centre didn't seem to have much attendence there. - Speak with them about it? - Will we still split costs or profits? - Reimburse them for the cost of the posters that they put up. - Speak with them about what happened. - Underage people at the beer garden. - What should we do in the future about this? - Are we liable? - We did as much as SUB security did; we shouldn't be required to do more than that. - Otherwise, beer garden went really well. - We should have more events at the Cheeze. Everyone really enjoyed the atmosphere. - People got lost. How can we fix that in the future? - Perhaps have a volunteer shift shuttle people from the SUB to the Cheeze. - Before the event, meet at the SUB then walk over. Additional Beer Garden - Many people didn't get to attend the beer garden, and are wondering about another one. - If someone is willing to go the distance and get everything organized this week, then sure, we'd be willing to have it. Pride Parade - It would be good to be in the Pride Parade again this summer. - Vancouver Pride Society is having a party this Friday; attend to learn more about the Pride Parade or potentially even sign up. - It would be nice to have an official organizer by the end of the year. She's A Boy I Knew - When is the event and who are we paying money to? Sasha will find out. - March 27th? Resisting the University - Would Pride be willing to send a speaker to this conference? - The university supports us so much financially, it's hard to say, as an organization, that we have a reason to resist the university. - If someone has a personal reason to speak at the conference, then they should be allowed to go speak. - Won't be supported by Pride UBC, but as queer speakers, allowed. Meeting adjourned at 12:41 PM.
