Administrative Positions


Co-Chairs: Coordinate and oversee the general operation of Pride UBC and should have served at least one year as an executive member. Co-chairs shall chair and set the agenda for meetings, act as spokespersons for Pride, act as liaisons between Pride UBC and the AMS, and submit proposals and ideas to the Collective.

Secretary: Take and maintain record of all minutes from all Collective meetings, maintain an active members list, prepare correspondence as directed by co-chairs and the collective, and monitor the official Pride UBC email account.

Treasurer: Create and maintain all financial records, make monthly financial reports, develop proposals for funding, act as sole signing officer, act as liaison for the Finance Commission, and prepare the Pride UBC budget for the next academic year.

Coordinator Positions


All Executive positions below require no prior experience with Pride UBC and more than one coordinator/facilitator may be elected.

Social Coordinator: The Social Coordinator shall coordinate volunteers, which shall initiate, plan, and coordinate social functions and activities for the Members of the Pride UBC Collective, including but not limited to beer gardens and the Outweek Dance. They shall also oversee the functions and activities organized by the First Year Coordinator. At least one social coordinator must be over 19 years of age and must complete the BC Serving It Right liquor training certification.

Political Coordinator: The Political Coordinator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate functions and activities that address political issues concerning the Queer Communities for the Members of the Pride UBC Collective. The Political Coordinator shall be responsible for informing the Pride UBC Collective on political functions and activities that relate to the Queer Communities, especially those located in Metro Vancouver. The Coordinator shall also create correspondence on political issues concerning the Queer Communities at the direction of the Executive Council.

Outreach Coordinator: The Outreach Coordinator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate functions and activities for the general public on Queer issues as per Article 3.6 of the Constitution of Pride UBC, including but not limited to conducting and arranging in-services for organizations and groups, primarily on campus. The Outreach Coordinator shall also liaise with student clubs and groups, faculties, Pride organizations, Pride organizations at other campuses, and community organizations.

Outweek Coordinator: The Outweek Coordinator shall strike and chair an Outweek Committee, which shall initiate, plan, and coordinate the functions and activities of the annual Outweek celebration, notwithstanding the Outweek Dance. The Outweek Coordinator shall also be responsible for communicating with the University to organize Outweek events.

Publicity Coordinator: The Publicity Coordinator shall prepare and post notices as directed by the Chairpersons or the Collective, submit notices for publication, develop proposals concerning promotion and publicity to enhance the public’s view of Pride UBC and participation in its functions and activities.

Online Media Coordinator: The Online Media Coordinator shall maintain and administer all facets of the mailing lists and website of Pride UBC and be responsible for ensuring prompt communication between the Administrative Council and the larger membership via the Internet. It is preferable that the Online Media Coordinator has prior knowledge and experience in website management and social media. The coordinator shall work with Publicity Coordinators and other related executives.

Pride Ubyssey Coordinator: The Pride Ubyssey Coordinator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate with The Ubyssey campus newspaper to produce the annual Pride Supplement in conjunction with Outweek as well as liaise with The Ubyssey for all related publications.

Accessibility Coordinator: The Accessibility Coordinator shall ensure the accessibility of Pride UBC functions and assist in providing accommodations to the best of financial and physical abilities of Pride UBC that include but are not limited to physical space accessibility, providing a signer, and scent reduction.

Summer Coordinator: The Summer Coordinator shall organize and coordinate events during the summer term, including but not limited to weekly summer meet ups and Pride UBC participation in the Vancouver Pride Parade.

Representatives


First Year Representative: The First Year Coordinator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate functions and activities that are open to all age groups for the Members of the Pride UBC Collective who are First Year students at the University of British Columbia.

Graduate Student Representative: The Graduate Student Coordinator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate functions and activities for Graduate students (including Queer U) at the University of British Columbia, address the needs of Graduate Students, and liaise between Pride UBC, the Graduate Student Society, and other Queer-focused independent graduate student groups.

Discussion Group Facilitators

All Facilitation Coordinators must complete group facilitation training provided by an individual or group deemed suitable by the Executive Council.

On-the-QT Facilitator: The aim of the On-the-QT facilitator position is to provide queer and trans individuals a safe space for dialogue and sharing.

Peer Counselling/On-the-DL Facilitator: The Peer Counselling/On The DL Facilitator shall serve as peer counsellors for Pride UBC. The Peer Counselling Coordinators must complete peer counselling training provided by AMS Speakeasy (or an equivalent organization). At least one On The DL Facilitator shall provide support for the TAGI Facilitator when needed.

Trans* and Gender Identities (TAGI) Facilitator: The Trans* and Gender Identities (TAGI) Facilitator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate functions and activities for the Members of the Pride UBC Collective who self-identify as non-cis identifying transgender, transexual, or genderqueer, including, but not limited to, a discussion group for those Members that provides a safe place for dialogue and sharing.

Female Lovers Weekly Facilitator (FLOW): The Female Lovers Weekly (FLoW) Facilitator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate functions and activities for the Members of the Pride UBC Collective who self-identify as female or transgendered, including, but not limited to, a discussion group for Members who self-identify as female or transgendered that provides a safe place for dialogue and sharing.

Guy Lovers Weekly Facilitator (GLOW): The Guy Lovers Weekly (GLOW) Facilitator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate functions and activities for the Members of the Pride UBC Collective who self-identify as male or transgendered, including, but not limited to, a discussion group for Members who self-identify as male or transgendered that provides a safe place for dialogue and sharing.

People Lovers Weekly Facilitator (PLOW): The People Lovers Weekly Facilitator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate functions and activities for the Members of the Pride UBC Collective who self-identify as bisexual, pansexual, questioning, or other non-homonormative or non-heteronormative sexualities, including, but not limited to, a discussion group for those Members that provides a safe place for dialogue and sharing.

Label Free Fridays Facilitator: The Label Free Fridays Facilitator shall initiate, plan, and coordinate functions and activities for the Members of the Pride UBC Collective who self-identify as any sexual orientation, including, but not limited to, a discussion group for those Members that provides a safe place for dialogue and sharing.
